Cook With the SparkRecipes App

This is my second week with the SparkRecipes app, and I have to say it’s made cooking more interesting. When you’re trying to live healthy by eating only home cooked food, life can get a tad boring without constant new recipe ideas. With the SparkRecipes app you not only have thousands of recipes submitted by SparkRecipes users at your fingertips, you also have their reviews, recommendations, every tiny detail, all in one neat little quick app that gives you practical options like recipes per occasion, options for dietary conditions, and even cuisine.

First thing’s first – the free SparkRecipe app for smartphones is available for all three current favourites – the Nexus One, iPhones and Blackberrys, as well as for just about any web enabled phone. Of course, while the app loads quickly and moves effortlessly for smartphones and androids, it can take forever on Symbian phones, but hey – at least you have the option.

How Will the SparkRecipes App Help Me Cook?
The SparkRecipes app has a simple interface that provides the user with practical dietary and meal choices. The essential divisions are:
Main Category, which is split up into different food types.
Occasion, which offers further divisions like party, brunch, cookout, and my favourite – picnic.
Cuisine, which is a great mix of easy to cook dishes from different cuisines like Asian, Italian, Mexican, French, German, Spanish and Indian.
Dietary Needs, my favourite category, offers choices between vegan, vegetarian, lactose free, gluten free, low fat and low carb recipes amongst others.
Course, which of course splits up into breakfast, dinner, snack, drink, etc.

What Does the SparkRecipes App Have that My Recipe Book Doesn’t? Each recipe comes with its calorie counts and nutritional info. The user-generated content has a tremendous plus point, since it encourages you to interact with the person who’s submitted that recipe. You can do this by logging on to the Spark Recipes website and commenting on that recipe’s page. Each recipe is rated as per user feedback. To top it off the personal touch that comes through real people sharing their favourite recipes with recipe anecdotes, special pointers, etc makes the SparkRecipes app a winner.

Sharing through SparkRecipes: My favourite feature? The fact that SparkRecipes lets me share the recipes with friends and family over email at the click of a button, right from the recipe pages.

So stop eating the same dishes day in and day out, download this app, save the recipes you like when you have some time, and then cook up a storm in your very own kitchen. An added advantage – when you plan to live in a service apartment for your next vacation, keep this SparkRecipes app handy and cook away with the local cuisine recipes!
