Try These Couple Workouts

Missing your workouts because of a crazy work schedule? Meetings, socialising and spending time with family practically leave us with no time at all. But if all you can manage after a long day is to send a goodnight message to your partner before hitting the sack, then its time you tried out some couple workouts. Fitness expert, Monisha Goel says that working out with your partner can be fun and motivating. Here’s how you can get that spunk back in your relationship with these couple workouts.

Learn a dance:
There can be no better way to get sparks flying again! Learn a sexy dance form like the salsa or tango. There’s nothing like dancing with your better half while burning those calories away.

A Couple that Jogs Together Stays Together:
Not only does walking or jogging keep you fit, it also brings you closer to nature, with generous doses of fresh air and Vitamin D. You may not walk/jog at the same speeds, but this could work out just right for you. Keeping pace with each other will introduce the element of healthy competition in your relationship and ensure that no one gets complacent any time soon. Girish Talwalkar, director - Talwalkar’s Fitness says, “30 minutes of brisk walking/jogging can burn up to 150 calories. Swimming is also another activity a couple can do. 30 minutes of swimming burns up to 175 calories.”

Play a Sport:
Sign up for a sport like squash, tennis, or basketball. These sports will give you a full body workout while bringing out the best in your relationship. There’s a reason why team spirit always prevails! Compete with each other and the winner can take all.  Wink wink!
Some Couple Exercises:

Partners in Fitness:
Stretching together can be very beneficial for your flexibility. Here are a few couple’s exercises to help you get started:

The row boat:
“Sit on the floor with your feet touching each other’s; hold hands and rotate your arms like you are rowing a boat,” explains Girish. This exercise will stretch your thigh muscles and help tone your arms.

Crunches:
“One of you can stand on the feet of the other as the other one does ab-crunches,” says Talwalkar. These are very helpful in toning lower abs. Enough motivation from you partner will help you perform better and reach your targets quicker.

Push-ups:
“While doing push-ups, your partner can give you resistance by keeping his/her palm on your back,” Talwalkar says. “This will increase the intensity of the workout,” he explains. Women usually opt for wall push-ups while men do push-ups against the floor. Push-ups are a great way to strengthen your shoulder and triceps. Try these fun couple workouts with your partner, watch the fat melt away, and see those sparks fly!
